Conflict Mineral Reporting
As part of the company’s commitment to building socially responsible and sustainable business practices, Hanon Systems supports international efforts to address this social issue impacting human rights by helping to reduce the trade of such conflict resources that have been linked to financing the armed conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and neighboring states. Doing so requires an understanding of the materials procured and the composition of these end products. The company commits to providing its customers with the annual disclosure surrounding “conflict minerals,” and encourages supplier partners to act on the same requirements by propagating this due diligence throughout the supply chain in an effort to identify the smelter-level used to process such minerals.
At Hanon Systems, there is a shared commitment to the efficient design and development, and repeatable high-quality production of parts to satisfy the customer. The company is proactively taking action to prepare its sites for the migration from existing international quality standard ISO/TS 16949 to the new International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949 standard. This new standard includes specific requirements related to corporate responsibility (section 184.108.40.206) to address increasing market and governmental expectations for improved integrity in social and environmental matters, including ethical integrity.
With a focus set to help build a better world for future generations, research and development teams at Hanon Systems are continuing to expand the company’s scope of product innovation to bolster e-mobility and mechatronic solutions. These efforts aim to lead the technology of tomorrow and deliver even greater value to automakers in support of electric, hybrid electric and fuel cell architectures.

A centrifugal air compressor is a turbine that forces high pressure oxygen into a fuel cell stack to power a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). Hanon Systems’ innovative centrifugal air compressor provides a clean air supply, and significantly improves durability and NVH performance compared to a traditional dual lobe screw compressor.
- Enables zero CO2 emissions FCEV, including the first mass-production FCEV
- Improves compression performance by 17%

2014 – IR52 Jang Young Shil Award
The latest generation of electric compressor is designed for hybrid and electric vehicles and features durable scroll technology. Available in 27 and 33cc displacements, the compressors is designed to operate in A/C and heat pump applications, and is compatible with R134a and R1234yf refrigerants. Model applications range from 90V to 450V DC.
- Reduces weight by 300g
- Improves power consumption with high efficiency scroll technology with integrated backpressure controlled system
A heat pump is a thermal management solution for heating electric, hybrid and internal-combustion engine vehicles where there is insufficient waste heat for cabin heating or when there is a need to reduce electrical load. Redirection of refrigerant via valves enables cooling of the vehicle using common system components. Hanon Systems’ heat pump is in production globally supporting a variety of electric vehicles.
- Uses less energy and increases driving range of a single battery charge (10% improvement at 23°C compared to an electric heater)
- Reduces electrical power consumption by 50% compared to an electric heater at -10°C
- Able to operate with more eco-friendly alternative refrigerants
2015 – IR52 Jang Young Shil Award
A fuel cell glycol heater heats the fuel cell stack for optimal operation during cold start conditions and eliminates oxygen build up around a fuel cell cathode in the event of vehicle impact. Hanon Systems has developed this critical component to address thermal energy management of fuel cell vehicles. Hanon Systems’ high voltage heater is integrated with a cathode oxygen depletion device to eliminate excess oxygen, if necessary.
- Through design, reduces weight by 10 percent and package space by 42%
- Rapidly heats the fuel cell stack to optimal temperatures during cold start, enabling operation in conditions to -30°C
