Halla Visteon Climate Control Plans New Manufacturing Plant in South America

SÃO PAULO, Brazil, Dec. 13, 2013 – Halla Visteon Climate Control Corp. (KS: 018880) today announced plans for a new manufacturing facility in Atibaia, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, to support its growing business with global vehicle manufacturers.

Initially, the site will assemble heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) components for automakers in the region. At full production, the new operation is expected to employ nearly 100 hourly and salaried employees. The facility will include 3,000 square meters (approximately 32,000 square feet) of manufacturing space, with room for expansion based on business needs. Production is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2014.

“We are pleased to further expand HVCC’s global footprint to South America and capitalize on business growth in this region,” said Brian G. Sullivan, president of Halla Visteon Climate Control in the Americas. “As a true global supplier, HVCC will rely on the new facility in Brazil to deliver value-added capability in close proximity to our customers to support their global vehicle programs.”

Today, HVCC supplies a range of climate components and systems to automakers in South America. The new manufacturing facility, HVCC Climatizações do Brasil Indústria e Comércio Ltda., is the first plant for HVCC in South America, furthering the company’s global reach to serve customers, and enabling additional product and localization opportunities to customers in the region.

The new Brazil operation expands the number of countries with HVCC operations to 19, as the company continues to focus on global growth. Within the past six months, HVCC has expanded a plant in the Czech Republic; completed the expansion of its U.S. manufacturing operation in Shorter, Alabama; and announced plans to begin manufacturing in Russia.
