Hanon Systems Signs Industry-Academia Cooperation MOU with Chungnam National University for Off-Road Mobility

SEOUL, South Korea, June 22, 2026 - Hanon Systems (KS:018880), a leading global automotive thermal management supplier and subsidiary of Hankook & Company Group, has entered into an industry-academia-research cooperation framework with Chungnam National University to explore future new technologies and evaluate business opportunities in the off-road mobility sector, including agriculture, construction, defense, marine and aerospace.
 
On June 19 at Chungnam National University in Daejeon, Hanon Systems signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the establishment and operation of the Off-Road Mobility Industry-Academia Research Innovation Institute with key representatives from participating organizations in attendance. Executive Vice President and Global Innovation Center Lead Sung Ho Kang represented Hanon Systems at the signing ceremony.
 
This agreement aims to enhance future mobility competitiveness by linking the research capabilities of Chungnam National University with industry expertise from Hanon Systems, the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI), and the Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATECH).  As a key industry partner, Hanon Systems will collaborate closely in joint R&D projects, shared use of research infrastructure, and talent development initiatives.
 
Hanon Systems plans to focus on joint R&D activities to review thermal management requirements for autonomous electric platforms across various off-road mobility applications, while also assessing the feasibility of new business opportunities. 
 
"This cooperation provides an excellent opportunity to extend Hanon Systems' thermal management technology beyond passenger vehicles into various off-road mobility applications, including agricultural, construction, defense, marine and aerospace," said Sung Ho Kang. "Through R&D-driven cooperation, we will actively explore new technology opportunities and assess future business viability to further strengthen our global competitiveness."
